(Scappoose, OR) – Two Scappoose women have been arrested and charged with the murder of their family member.
Katherine Ann Raina, 63, and Hillary Clare Murphy, 31, were arrested Wednesday after an investigation into the death of Benjamin David Murphy. Murphy died March 6th at the family home on Southwest Linden Street in Scappoose.
Police investigators were suspicious of the circumstances and determined that the death was not natural. Both women, the mother and sister of Murphy, have been charged with first degree murder, murder by abuse, criminally negligent homicide, criminal mistreatment and abuse of a corpse.
The indictment says the women intentionally tortured Murphy while he was in their care.
Raina and Murphy are both being held on $1 million bail.
