April 10, 2025(Longview, WA) — A former local teacher and public servant Bob Baagason recently passed away after a brief illness.
Baagason began his teaching career in his home area of Grays Harbor. He spent one season as the Toutle Lake football coach before moving to Longview in 1978 where he was a long time teacher at Cascade Junior High and then at Mark Morris High School. He taught history, P.E., health and traffic safety and also coached the Monarch girls basketball team.
Bob retired from teaching but then served two terms as a Port of Longview Commissioner including stints as the Board chair and the Board secretary. His work took place during exciting times of growth at the Port.
Baagason was active in the community and was an affable man who gave back. He is survived by his wife Linda and their two daughters as well as two siblings, four grandchildren and one great grand child.
Bob Baagason was 77 years old.
