Life Flight was called to the Napavine area on Saturday afternoon after a motorcyclist crashed while traveling at a high rate of speed.

Officers responded to the scene around 12:36 p.m. at milepost 3 on State Route 508 in Klaus. Fifty-one-year-old Antonio Hernandez of Chehalis was found on the ground and was airlifted to St. Joseph Medical Center in Tacoma.

According to the Washington State Patrol, Hernandez was riding westbound when he failed to complete a turn, causing him to strike a fence on the westbound shoulder of the roadway. He was wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, and speed has been identified as the primary factor.

Drugs and alcohol were not involved; however, Hernandez has been charged with negligent driving.
