March 4, 2025Madelyn Nadine McMahon: October 21, 1925 – February 10, 2025
ST. HELENS- Madelyn Nadine McMahon, known to all as Nadine, passed away peacefully on February 10, 2025, at the age of 99. She was born October 21, 1925, in Portland, Oregon to parents Glen and Betty Bowman, where she grew up and attended Commerce High School. She later made her home in St. Helens, Oregon, where she raised her three children before moving to Columbia City with her husband, Pat of 57 years. Nadine dedicated much of her professional life as a Legal Secretary and Civil Service Secretary, bringing diligence and skill to her work. Beyond her career she was a devoted wife, mother, and friend who lived life with enthusiasm and a love for adventure.
Nadine and Pat shared a passion for cooking, the outdoors, spending time boating, fishing, and golfing. Some of their fondest memories were boating through the San Juan Islands with her sister Mary Corinne and brother-in-law Tom, as well as traveling the country in their motorhome, especially their winters in Arizona. In Arizona Nadine became an avid golfer and was especially proud of achieving a hole in one. She embraced the social side of the sport, enjoying lively cocktail parties after a day on the course and making lifelong friends along the way. Her warmth, humor, and love of celebration brought joy to those around her.
She is survived by her very loving husband, Pat McMahon, and cherished daughters, Linda Lindsten (husband Mike, deceased) who spent Nadine’s last two years living with and caring for her, and Cheryl “Cheri” Wilson (husband Tim), Corinne Loper (husband Tom) and brother Bill (deceased). She was a loving stepmother to her three stepchildren, Mike McMahon, Christy Medrano and Kathy Schaffer. She was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren, and 5 great great grandchildren and an aunt to 5 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death b y her loving son Ed Smith (Kathy his wife).
Nadine’s adventurous spirit, love of family, and zest for life will be dearly missed but forever remembered by those who had the privilege of knowing her. At the request of the family no services will be held.
