The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife (WDFW) Police say they are investigating after an elk was illegally poached over the weekend near the end of Spirit Lake Highway.
The WDFW says that officers received a report that the poached bull was found Monday afternoon around milepost 39 of the highway. When an officer arrived on the scene later in the day, they found the elk and its antlers had been cut off.
The WDFW suspects that the poaching occurred sometime on Saturday or Sunday. If you have any details on what occurred, you are asked to contact the WDFW Police.
