The Wallace Elementary 5th grade class got quite the surprise during their recent graduation ceremony: every student received a free bicycle.
Initially, students were told there would be a raffle for just one winner—but then came the surprise.
During the school year, the 5th grade class participated in the Let’s Go bike program in PE, where they learned valuable skills related to bike safety, riding, and transportation. Each bike was personally adjusted for the students on the spot by staff from ESD 112, which runs the Let’s Go program throughout Southwest Washington. One of the bikes was even adapted for a student with a physical disability, ensuring that every student could enjoy riding.
The Let’s Go program is part of Move Ahead Washington, a statewide transportation initiative funded by the Washington State Department of Transportation.
