February 21, 2025A suspect was taken into custody after a DUI crash Wednesday morning near Memorial Park in Longview, which involved a 3-year-old child and left some residents without power. The accident was reported around 9:15 a.m. to Cowlitz 911, along the eastbound section of State Route 432 on Mt. Solo Road, not far from Mt. Solo Middle School. Witnesses reported that a Cadillac Escalade had left the roadway and was found in a ditch off the right side, striking a power pole and causing power outages in the area.
Public Information Officer Will Finn with the Washington State Patrol says the male driver, later identified as 30-year-old Movic Moses of Longview, was initially reported to be possibly trapped inside the vehicle along with a toddler in the front seat. Moses managed to free himself and the child before law enforcement arrived. However, witnesses stated that Moses began changing his clothes and that he walked away from the scene with the child on his shoulders.
A passing motorist convinced Moses to return to the crash site, where arriving troopers determined he was impaired. Moses was arrested on suspicion of DUI, and a warrant was later granted for a blood sample. In addition to DUI charges, he has been charged with possession of a concealed weapon and reckless endangerment.
The child, who was not in a car seat at the time of the crash, was safely transported from the scene and placed into the custody of Child Protective Services. A family member from out of the area was contacted to take custody of the toddler.
