March 17, 2025Saturday was another disappointment for smelt dippers on the Cowlitz River. It was reported that there were once again little to no fish to dip. However, there is some good news: the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife has approved two more days of smelt dipping for this week. These are the last possible days scheduled on their season calendar.
The river will be open from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Wednesday and Saturday. As a reminder, those 15 and over must have a valid Washington fishing license to dip.
