April 14, 2025Two hikers were found safe last week after getting lost in the snow at Coldwater Lake.
Cowlitz County Sheriff Brad Thurman said that last Thursday, around 6:09 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office was advised that an 18-year-old and a 24-year-old, along with their three dogs, were lost. GPS was able to locate the area where the hikers were before their phones lost power.
The Sheriff’s Office and Search and Rescue team members responded; they flew a drone and confirmed the hikers’ location. The hikers were contacted around 10:33 p.m., and just after midnight, the two were able to return to the parking area. Both the hikers and their dogs were not injured.
