The St. Helens School District has begun its search for a permanent superintendent.

According to the Columbia County Spotlight, the school board voted unanimously last week to begin the search to replace Karen Gray, the second acting superintendent since former Superintendent Scot Stockwell was placed on administrative leave in November. His leave followed a student sex abuse scandal involving two teachers at the high school.

Gray’s contract runs through the end of the current school year. The position was posted last Thursday, and the application period is open through April 25.
