March 19, 2025The Cowlitz County Sheriff’s Office has cleared up some confusion regarding a search warrant that was served in Kelso during a drugs and firearms investigation on February 25th.
As reported yesterday, the warrant was served at a property on the 1400 block of South 5th Avenue, not far from Wallace Elementary School. According to Criminal Chief Deputy Troy Brightbill, the parcel contained multiple structures, some of which had been converted for residential use, despite being listed as unimproved land on tax records.
A popular social media post from a woman has been spreading, claiming that the Sheriff’s Office accidentally executed the warrant at the wrong address, causing distress and property damage.
Brightbill clarified that the confusion was due to the subject of the investigation using an address that belonged to a different residence. He confirmed that detectives had the correct search warrant for that parcel.
The woman did call 911 while the search warrant was being executed, and Brightbill says she provided an address for a different residence and parcel. He added that she is a renter and likely unaware of the addressing issues.
