The pole is back! Yesterday, the Longview Pioneer Lions Club posted pictures of them reinstalling the 53-foot Story Pole on Pioneer Lions Island at Lake Sacajawea.

Previously, the club had taken the pole down in late July for restoration work, but a closer inspection found the deteriorating cedar pole may have been too unstable to restore. Thankfully, that did not end up being the case.

The pole has stood on the island since 1980.
