May 29, 2025The Longview Parks and Recreation Department has someone new at the helm: Justin Brown was named as their new director yesterday. In the announcement, the City of Longview said that Brown will start his new role this Sunday.
Brown has a strong familiarity with the department; he has served as the Longview Recreation Manager since 2017 and brings over a decade of experience in public recreation leadership.
He has a background in managing youth and adult sports, community events, and facility operations.
In a statement, former Longview Parks and Recreation Director and current Longview City Manager Jennifer Wills said, “Justin’s steady leadership, deep roots in Longview, and passion for building a strong and vibrant community made him the clear choice. He understands where we’ve been and where we’re going, and he’s already hit the ground running. We’re excited to support him as he steps into this important role.”
As Director, Brown is in charge of all aspects of the Parks and Recreation Department. He said, “I’m excited to build on the great work already underway and explore new opportunities to make our parks, programs, and events even more accessible and meaningful for everyone. Parks and recreation are essential to a healthy, connected community, and I look forward to working with staff, partners, residents, and visitors to keep Longview moving forward.”
