April 18, 2025Details have been released on the semi-truck crash that occurred yesterday morning on I-5 north of Lexington near the weigh station. The driver did not have a valid license.
According to a Washington State Patrol report, the crash happened around 5:03 a.m. Responding units confirmed that the driver, 62-year-old Abel Garcia Ibarra, was not injured.
Garcia Ibarra was driving the semi-truck and trailer northbound on I-5 near milepost 45.8 when he reportedly veered across all lanes of traffic, striking the guardrail in the left lane before the truck came to a stop.
The crash resulted in the left lane of the freeway being closed for several hours while a tow was arranged. Garcia Ibarra has been charged with driving with a suspended license and for not having a commercial driver’s license.
