February 6, 2025Solid Waste tipping fees will increase in Cowlitz County starting on March 1st.
According to the county, the increases are due to rising expenses; however, they say they aim to keep fees low for residents and continue to maintain the third-lowest rates of all 39 counties in Washington.
Disposal fees at the Longview Transfer Station will increase by $6.69 to $62.50 per ton for in-county residents and by $30 to $115 per ton for out-of-county residents. The county minimum fee will rise by $5 to $12.50, and the out-of-county minimum will increase by $17.50 to $25.
Rates at the Toutle Drop Box Facility will increase to $7.72 for one to three bags or cans, with an added charge of $3.86 per additional can. Pickup or trailer loads will increase to $21.24. Cowlitz County disabled veterans will continue to receive a credit of up to $14 per load at both locations.
