A man was killed Saturday afternoon in a crash on Highway 30 in Clatskanie after crossing the center line into oncoming traffic.

The crash occurred around 2:29 p.m. The Oregon State Police say they responded to the scene at milepost 62 shortly afterward, finding a two-vehicle collision.

48-year-old Daren McLeod was pronounced dead at the scene. 63-year-old Michael Olson of Hammond sustained minor injuries but did not require hospitalization.

A preliminary investigation indicates that McLeod was driving a gray Volkswagen Jetta eastbound when, for unknown reasons, he crossed the center line. The Jetta collided head-on with a black Ford F-350 pickup truck towing a camping trailer, driven by Olson.

Highway 30 was closed for approximately four and a half hours during the investigation.
