The Washington Department of Fish and Wildlife, or WDFW, has postponed the start of the recreational razor clam season until further notice.
The season was scheduled to begin tomorrow and run through October 14th on four coastal beaches, including Long Beach.
WDFW says domoic acid levels in razor clams are trending upward or have exceeded state health guidelines for safe consumption.
The toxin can be harmful or fatal if consumed in high enough amounts.
They will continue testing razor clams and will announce new digging opportunities when marine toxin levels show it is safe to do so.
