March 12, 2025A Castle Rock woman who was a passenger in the vehicle that ran over a pedestrian in Winlock earlier this month has been arrested as a co-defendant on charges of first-degree attempted murder, first-degree assault, and vehicular assault.
The Chronicle reports that 38-year-old Kristen Schmotzer is accused of getting into an argument with the victim, who had been walking her dog on Nikula Road shortly after midnight on March 4. Schmotzer is accused of telling the driver of the vehicle, 24-year-old Angelina Ramirez of Toledo, to “just hit her.”
Ramirez was arrested the day after the incident, and her bail has been set at $750,000. Schmotzer was arrested the following day, and just this Monday, she had a preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court, where her bail was set at $1 million. Her bail is higher than Ramirez’s due to her criminal history.
In the incident, the victim was left under the vehicle until she was found by people in the area who heard the incident, as both Schmotzer and Ramirez allegedly fled in a different vehicle. The victim was taken to St. John Medical Center, where she was treated for a fractured right leg, rib fractures, pelvic fractures, and a punctured lung.
