The body found earlier this month on the Columbia River between Kalama and Woodland has been identified as a St. Helens man.

Cowlitz County Coroner Dana Tucker confirmed that the remains discovered near Deer Island on July 8 belonged to 41-year-old Michael Gilley.

The cause and manner of Gilley’s death remain under investigation.
