February 7, 2025$120,400 has been awarded this year in reimbursement grants as part of the Tourism Marketing Grant initiative in Cowlitz County.The program is designed to support local organizations in developing new events or expanding existing ones to increase overnight stays and enhance local tourism.
Kim Bowcutt, the Cowlitz County Tourism Director, said, “Tourism plays a vital role in our local economy, and these grants are a crucial tool in helping. By investing in tourism promotion, we are fostering economic development and strengthening our community.”
The largest recipients this year include $15,000 for the Kalama Cultural Festival, $12,000 for the Lelooska Foundation Advertising and Outreach, and $10,000 each for Big Smoke in Little Kalama, the Crafted Beer & Wine Festival, Lilac Gardens Lilac Days, SquatchFest, Squirrel Fest, and the Tour de Blast.
Each recipient will be reimbursed for eligible marketing expenses designed to maximize event exposure and visitor attendance.
