There were multiple injuries after a three-vehicle collision over the holiday weekend on Highway 12 near Mayfield Lake.
The Washington State Patrol reports that the collision occurred on Sunday. A 2021 Ford F-150 driven by 56-year-old Christinea Gilliam of Winlock had been stopped around 1:55 p.m., waiting for westbound traffic to clear at milepost 83 so she could turn left onto Village Road. A 2015 GMC Yukon had stopped behind her, but a third vehicle, a 2011 Hyundai Elantra driven by 46-year-old Genevieve Roundy of Randle, failed to stop, causing a chain-reaction rear-end collision.
Roundy, Gilliam and two of Gilliam’s passengers were all injured and taken to Providence Centralia Hospital for treatment. Two additional passengers in Gilliam’s vehicle were also injured but declined transportation.
Everyone had been wearing seatbelts, and no drugs or alcohol were involved. The State Patrol’s office did, however, cite Roundy for distracted driving.
