Progress on fighting the Skyo Fire in rural east Lewis County near Packwood continued yesterday after a burnout operation was conducted.

Burnout operations are burns done purposely to get ahead of the fire and take away its future fuel. The operation was done on the north slope, with the fire now 253 acres in size, but it is also now listed at 38% contained.

Level 1 “Be Ready” advisories remain in effect for some residents nearby.
