April 18, 2025A semi truck was driving northbound I-5 yesterday, when just after 5am it veered across all lanes of traffic and struck the guardrail on the left shoulder. This was right about at exit 46 (for Headquarters Road between Castle Rock and Kelso). No other vehicles were involved in the crash. The driver of the semi, 62-year-old Abel Garcia Ibarra of Los Angeles, California, was not injured. The semi’s tractor was totaled, and the trailer, damaged.
The Washington State Patrol reports Garcia Ibarra has been charged with driving with no commercial drivers license, and having a suspended license, but the actual cause of the crash remains under investigation. Garcia Ibarra was wearing a seat belt. Drug and alcohol were not involved.
