The Rotary Club of Longview has announced more than $1 million in new donations toward the rebuilding of Martin Dock at Lake Sacajawea.

During the club’s gala over the weekend, Project Leader Brian Magnuson said the Kirchner family and Wollenberg Foundation have each pledged $300,000, while the Evans family and JH Kelly Construction will donate and build a covered pavilion to be named for the company’s late president, Dan Evans.

The multiyear project is estimated to cost between $3 million and $4 million. Earlier this year, Rotarian Pat Martin pledged a $500,000 matching gift, and the project has also received a $60,000 Cowlitz County Tourism grant.

The new dock will include the Dan Evans Pavilion, more than 300 feet of boardwalk and a kayak launch called Kirchner Landing.

The Rotary Club says fundraising is nearing its goal, with more than $45,000 raised through auctions and pledges at this weekend’s centennial gala. Construction has not yet been scheduled.
