April 25, 202534-year-old Tyler Whitely was sentenced to 20 months in prison yesterday for attacking a woman in her home in a serious domestic violence incident that occurred back in January.
The Daily News reports that Whitely pleaded guilty last month and accepted a plea deal. The agreement includes 18 months of community custody, and he was issued a no-contact order with the victim that remains in effect through 2035.
As previously reported, Whitely was arrested on January 13. Longview police officers responded late at night to a disturbance at the 2100 block of 38th Avenue. The victim could be heard yelling, “Help, help, put the knife down… you’re going to kill me.”
Whitely fled when police arrived. After an approximately hour-long search with a K9 unit, he was found hiding nearby. At the time, Whitely was already under a no-contact order, which he acknowledged being aware of. During pre-sentencing, he stated that he had been diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
