Longview 8th Avenue Apartment Fire—Klog 100.7 News

There was an apartment fire early this morning off 8th Avenue.

The Longview Fire Department said they responded to the 800 block of 8th Avenue near the Quality Inn at an unspecified time after a 911 call reported heavy smoke coming from the building. The rooms were evacuated, and it was discovered that the fire originated on the ground floor.

Tenants in the building used fire extinguishers through the windows to prevent the fire from spreading to neighboring apartments. Firefighters were able to extinguish the flames within just a few minutes.

Longview Fire Battalion Chief Matt Amos said the building owner had recently issued those personal extinguishers, which helped keep the fire under control. He stated, “If it wasn’t for the building owner providing fire extinguishers and the quick action of the tenants, this would have been a much larger fire.”

No injuries were reported. The fire is still under investigation.
