The 20th Avenue Bridge over Lake Sacajawea in Longview will be closed for the next week after an early morning crash on Sunday.
Longview Police Captain Tim Watson says around 4:15 a.m., Longview officers responded to the bridge and found a black 2004 Nissan Titan that had crashed through the bridge railing. It was teetering toward the water from the middle of the bridge. The driver and only occupant of the vehicle, 30-year-old Selena Kelly of Longview, was able to get out safely.
She was not injured, but Watson did say she has been cited for Negligent Driving and Failure to Show Proof of Insurance.
Due to the crash, the City of Longview said yesterday that the bridge is estimated to be closed to vehicle traffic for the next week from the intersection at Kessler Boulevard. City crews are assessing the damage and repairing the east side railing of the bridge. The west sidewalk of the bridge and the footpath underneath remain open for pedestrians.
