(Longview, WA) – A former Mark Morris boys basketball assistant coach has been hired as the interim head coach this upcoming season.
Jim Hendrickson, 59, will take over the program on an interim basis while Ken Kelly remains on paid administrative leave in the aftermath of the alleged sexual assaults involving members of last season’s team.
Hendrickson spent 10 seasons in the MM program under retired head coach Bill Bakamus. The Kalama area businessman has most recently been on the staff of the Bushnell University women’s basketball program under former LCC head coach Chad Meadors.
Hendrickson says that 18 players were at the first open gym of the season on Sunday.
The first practice of the upcoming season will be on November 16th.
Hendrickson says his staff this season will consist of former Monarch player Doug Dietz and his son Rome Hendrickson, also a former Monarch player. Hendrickson is hoping to add another person to the coaching staff.
