LONGVIEW- In Loving Memory of Cornelio “Neil” Clement Martello, 77, who passed away suddenly on March 3, 2025, from natural causes while on a Hawaiian vacation cruise.

Neil was born in Baltimore, MD, on May 30, 1947, to the late Auralia and Cornelio Martello.  After graduating from high school, Neil proudly served in the US Air Force.  After an honorable discharge from the military in 1973, he and his sweetheart, Candee May Camp, were married on June 30, 1973, and then began building their family.

Neil and Candee relocated to the West Coast and ultimately settled in Kelso, WA.  Neil graduated from college, earning a Master’s in Counseling, and became a Certified Chemical Dependency Counselor, a profession he pursued until his retirement.

Neil was known for his interesting, never-ending stories and tales. He enjoyed sports, primarily baseball. As an avid reader, he was passionate about history and enjoyed sharing his knowledge. He was an active publisher of several articles. He traveled through all 50 states and several countries and loved to share his experiences. He remained active in the church throughout his life and enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Neil truly valued his longtime friends and had a larger-than-life personality. He said strangers were friends he hadn’t met yet, and he embraced the opportunity to connect.  He leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and treasured memories. Neil had such a huge heart, and he is deeply missed.

Neil is survived by his loving wife, Candee Martello; daughter, Aneilia Jean Martello Moore and spouse Robert; son, Neil Preston Martello; sister Teresa Bauernschmidt; nephew Jonathan Bauernschmidt; granddaughter, McKenna Martinez and spouse Zach; great-granddaughters, Iris and Vivian; and several cousins and many friends.

Neil’s family and friends will celebrate his life with a memorial service on May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Emmanuel Lutheran Church, located at 2218 E. Kessler Blvd, Longview, WA 98632. Followed by a reception at the church. Please come ready to celebrate Neil’s life and memory!
