A decent sized brush fire broke out last evening on the hillside right along the freeway in Kalama, just south of Todd Road.

It was just before 6:40pm when flames were reported along I-5 Northbound close to milepost 27.

When fire crews arrived in the area it was roughly 200 yards in size. By just before 7pm firefighters stopped the fire’s progression as it was about ¼ of an acre in size.
