There was a decently large brush fire along the freeway yesterday afternoon in Castle Rock.
The flames were reported around 3 p.m. on land to the south of the Toutle River RV Park at milepost 52 of I-5. Heavy smoke was reportedly causing visibility issues on the freeway. The fire quickly spread to about an acre in size within 20 minutes.
At its peak, the blaze reportedly grew to a few acres. By 4:25 p.m. the fire was out, and the scene was turned over to the DNR to monitor for flareups.
