64-Year-Old Missing Kelso Man Found Dead Floating in Columbia—Classic Hits 100.7 KLOG News

The dead body discovered yesterday morning in the Columbia River under the Lewis & Clark Bridge has been identified as 64-year-old Michael White of Kelso.

Cowlitz County Undersheriff Troy Brightbill says White was first reported missing to the Sheriff’s Office last Thursday. His truck was located off North Pacific Avenue in Kelso near a fishing area on the Cowlitz after a fisherman turned in a cell phone belonging to him that was found in the area.

On Saturday, White was declared a missing person, and the Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol searched along the Cowlitz River for him. Despite extensive efforts, the search was not able to locate him.

Then yesterday morning, a 911 caller reported finding a body floating in the Columbia near the Lewis & Clark Bridge. Deputies, along with the Sheriff’s Office Marine Patrol, responded to the area and recovered the body around 8 a.m. The Cowlitz County Coroner’s Office responded and identified the body as White.

An autopsy to determine his cause of death has been scheduled. No additional information on the cause or manner of White’s death is known at this time.
