The Washington State Patrol’s Office has posted the full details on that DUI crash that occurred Tuesday evening on Industrial and Washington Way.
66-year-old Jody Chastain of Longview had been going westbound on Industrial in a 2015 Volvo V60 hatchback, while 39-year-old Rachel Scott of Rainier was on Washington Way in a 2022 Subaru Outback, turning left onto Industrial. Just before 6 p.m., Chastain failed to stop for the stoplight in front of Gate 10, causing him to collide with Scott’s Outback.
First responders arrived at the scene to find Chastain injured; he was taken by ambulance to St. John Medical Center. Scott was also transported to the hospital as a precaution.
Chastain was found to be under the influence, and he was charged with DUI, 3rd Degree Driving with a Suspended or Revoked License, and operating without an ignition interlock device.
Both drivers had been wearing seatbelts.
