A load of live chickens got loose after a semi-truck crashed yesterday morning on an I-5 on-ramp in La Center.

The Washington State Patrol says 41-year-old Jose Vildosola of Kelso was driving the big rig just before 9:40 a.m. eastbound on the 319th Street roundabout near Ilani. He pulled the truck onto the I-5 northbound on-ramp at milepost 16 when he failed to negotiate the curve, causing his rear wheels to strike a curb, resulting in the truck and trailer tipping over.

Vildosola was not injured. He did, however, receive a citation for the crash. Animal control was called to the scene, and they rounded up hundreds of chickens safely. It was not reported if any of the birds were hurt in the crash.
