Second Amendment Demonstration in Longview—Classic Hits 100.7 KLOG News
January 27, 2026Another candidate may soon enter the race for Washington’s 3rd Congressional District, and this time it’s a Longview man.
Former 19th District State Representative and Longview School Board member JD Rossetti says he has begun an exploratory process toward a possible independent run for the U.S. House seat. Rossetti describes this as a “listening phase,” meeting with residents across Clark, Cowlitz, Wahkiakum, Pacific, Skamania, Lewis, and Thurston counties to hear directly about cost-of-living pressures, healthcare access, housing, public safety, rural economic stability, and constitutional accountability.
Rossetti, an author, says his exploration follows a recent opinion piece he wrote titled “A Vote for ‘Stability’ That Undermines Southwest Washington,” which raised concerns about Department of Homeland Security funding without civil liberties protections. Rossetti says he supports calls to abolish ICE and replace it with an immigration system rooted in due process, transparency, and humanitarian standards.
Rossetti previously served as a Democrat but did not explain why he is considering an independent run. The seat is currently held by Democrat Marie Gluesenkamp Perez. Republican State Senator John Braun has announced his candidacy, as has Democrat Brent Hennrich.
