Second Amendment Demonstration in Longview—Classic Hits 100.7 KLOG News

Today the group Cascade Forward is holding yet another protest in Longview; this one is a Second Amendment demonstration.

The demonstration comes after questions about the Trump Administration’s support of gun rights following the ICE shooting of Alex Pretti in Minnesota. Pretti had been carrying a firearm at the time. In a post on Saturday, Department of Homeland Security Secretary Kristi Noem said, “I don’t know of any peaceful protester that shows up with a gun and ammunition rather than a sign.” This led to criticism over prior right-wing support for Kyle Rittenhouse in 2020, when he showed up to a Wisconsin protest at just 17 years old with an AR-15 and ended up shooting three people, killing two of them.

Cascade Forward says their demonstration will be from 3 to 5 p.m. at Ocean Beach Highway and 30th Avenue. They call this “a public stand for a core civil liberty: the right to keep and bear arms, including the right to concealed carry. You don’t have to agree with us on everything to agree on this. The Second Amendment isn’t conservative or progressive; it’s a constitutional right.” They argue that any pushback from the federal government on the Second Amendment deserves pushback on all sides.

They also want to remind anyone planning to bring a firearm to be mindful of state and local laws.
