Allen Lavern Worel: June 7, 1934 — February 27, 2025

LONGVIEW- Allen Lavern Worel, affectionately known as Vern, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Longview, Washington, after a courageous battle with complications of dementia, surrounded by the love and memories of his family. He was born on June 7, 1934, in Oklahoma City, during the challenging years of the Great Depression, which helped shape his resilient, resourceful, and tough character.

Vern’s early years were marked by poverty, which instilled in him a strong determination to ensure that his family would have the necessities that he had lacked in his youth. He only completed up to the sixth grade but devoted his life to hard work and service, where he became a respected truck driver and diesel mechanic. His knowledge and skill in fixing anything old and broken earned him great respect among his peers.

Vern served in the United States Marine Corps, a testament to his commitment and dedication. He also took immense pride in his family, which he regarded as his greatest accomplishment. His grandchildren fondly recall moments spent with their grandpa, helping him feed the farm animals, a testament to the nurturing he provided. He is survived by his daughter, Angela Alexander; his grandchildren, Misty Worel, Casy White, and Corey White; and his enduring legacy lives on in the hearts of those he touched

He had a variety of interests that brought joy to his life. Vern loved to barbecue, make chili, and listen to country music, painting a picture of simpler pleasures and heartfelt family gatherings. His deep love for his farm and the life he cultivated there remains a cherished memory for those who knew him.

Vern was preceded in death by his cherished wife, Willie Florence Worel (Caruthers), and his beloved daughters, Venita Darlene White, Dana Lynn Sager, and Carla Gale Schneider. He is also reunited with his son, Dayle Allen Worel, and his mother, Josephine Cornish, and father, Arthur Brownson Worel.

A graveside service will be held in his honor at Longview Memorial Park Cemetery on March 17, 2025, starting at 10:30 AM. The family invites all who knew and loved Vern to join them in remembering a man who embodied strength and care for others. Vern leaves behind a legacy that will be cherished for generations to come.
