February 13, 2025There was one minor burn injury during a two-alarm fire in West Longview early this morning.
Crews from the Longview Fire Department and other local agencies responded to 2605 36th Avenue, not far from the Mint Valley Golf Course, around 6:10 a.m. The initial caller reported that the fire started on the front porch and that residents were evacuating.
Arriving fire crews found a working fire that quickly spread to the attic. They extinguished the outside fire before entering the smoke-filled home to tackle the attic fire. About 20 minutes after arriving on scene, it was reported that the attic fire worsened, prompting the activation of a second alarm.
By just before 7 a.m., the fire was fully extinguished. One resident was treated at the scene for a minor burn. No other injuries were reported.
The extremely cold temperatures this morning reportedly caused issues for fire crews, as water runoff froze on the ground and on firefighting equipment.
The Longview Fire Department remains on scene as they continue their investigation throughout the morning.
