Fatal Crash Off I-5 Near Ostrander—Klog 100.7
February 18, 2025There were multiple injuries in a crash on I-5 in Chehalis Friday evening, where one of the vehicles came to a complete stop in the left lane of the freeway.
The crash occurred on I-5 Northbound at milepost 79 around 9:38 p.m. The driver of the first vehicle involved, 36-year-old Katrina Aldridge of Moses Lake, and two passengers of the second vehicle involved, 37-year-old Brianne Barnes and 18-year-old Bailey Belder, both of Napavine, were injured. All three were taken to Providence Centralia Hospital by ambulance. The driver of the second vehicle involved, 41-year-old Matthew Gleder, and a 15-year-old male, both of Chehalis, were not injured.
According to the Washington State Patrol report on the incident, Aldridge was driving northbound in a 2006 Acura TL when she came to a complete stop in the left lane. A 2002 Honda Odyssey driven by Matthew Gleder was unable to stop in time and struck the Acura. The Acura then crossed all lanes of traffic, striking the guardrail on the right shoulder before coming to rest in the ditch. The Honda came to rest, blocking the left lane.
Both vehicles were totaled in the crash, and everyone involved had been wearing seatbelts. Aldridge has been charged with Vehicular Assault, and the Washington State Patrol did confirm that drugs or alcohol are suspected to have been involved, though no DUI charges have been listed.
