Massive flames and thick black smoke were visible during a large shop fire Saturday evening near Lexington.
Cowlitz 2 Fire & Rescue and several other local agencies responded around 5:40 p.m. to the 1700 block of Holcomb Road. Fire crews arrived to find the shop about 75 percent involved, with flames estimated at 15 feet high. Due to nearby structures and vehicles being at risk, Battalion Chief Dan Cothren called for a second alarm.
While the building was a total loss, firefighters successfully kept the fire from spreading to any other properties. No injuries were reported. The cause remains under investigation but is believed to be accidental.
