The Longview Fire Department has provided further details on what occurred Thursday evening in the St. John Medical Center Emergency Department parking lot.

Battalion Chief Eric Bergquist says firefighters were dispatched around 8:30 p.m. Upon arrival, they found one vehicle significantly involved in flames.

The fire was contained to the original vehicle; however, 5 nearby vehicles suffered damage from heat exposure.

There were reports of people hearing a possible explosion, but firefighters did not find any evidence of an explosion at the scene. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
