After previously voting against a proposal that would have allowed wheeled ATVs on Kelso City streets in 2024, the Kelso City Council is once again taking up the issue.
Back in May of 2024, the proposal was voted down due to safety concerns. It would have allowed side-by-sides with enhancements to make them street-legal on certain Kelso streets.
The proposal has been brought back after a request from Mayor Veryl Anderson and a second from Councilor Keenan Harvey. Previously, Harvey had been a big advocate for the change.
The proposal now refers to the vehicles as “WATVs,” or “Wheeled All-Terrain Vehicles,” after there had previously been some confusion about what the ATV referred to.
Tonight’s meeting is at 6 p.m. in the Kelso City Council Chambers.
