March 6, 2025Nancy Marie Harwood: November 12, 1940 – February 18, 2025
ST. HELENS- Nancy M. Harwood, 84, of St. Helens, Oregon, passed away peacefully February 18, 2025. Born in Seattle, Washington, Nancy moved to St. Helens at the age of eight, where she spent the remainder of her life.
Nancy was well-known in the community and worked for many years in the St. Helens School District. She was also the Executive Director for the Retired Senior Volunteer Program for many years, supporting and uplifting the retired citizens of Columbia County. She was a proud and active member of the St. Helens Kiwanis, always contributing her time and energy to causes she deeply cared about.
Nancy had a passion for animals, birds, and gardening, and her love for travel brought her to many places, always with a sense of adventure. She found joy in the small things and was beloved for her kind and nurturing spirit. Nancy was a strong, forgiving, caring and compassionate person that loved her family fiercely.
She is survived by her three children, Mark Harwood, Peter Harwood, and Molly Spangler, as well as her nine grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Nancy is also survived by her sister, one brother, and many nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews who were dear to her heart. Her memory will live on in the countless lives she touched.
A memorial service will be held at St. Frederick’s Catholic Church in St. Helens, Oregon on Thursday, March 6, at 11:00 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Humane Society of Oregon.
Nancy’s legacy of love and kindness will forever be remembered by her family, friends, and all who had the joy of knowing her.
