The man who shot and killed 2 people at the AWPPW Hall in Longview back in April will spend the rest of his life behind bars without the possibility of parole.

The Cowlitz County Prosecutor’s Office says that last Thursday, 49-year-old Andres Carrasco-Sanchez pleaded guilty to 2 counts of 1st Degree Aggravated Murder with a Firearm Enhancement for the shooting deaths of 21-year-old Christian Garcia and 30-year-old Sergio Segundo. Carrasco-Sanchez also pleaded guilty to 2nd Degree Unlawful Possession of a Firearm, Attempting to Elude a Pursuing Police Vehicle, and Alien in Possession of a Firearm.

On April 11th, Carrasco-Sanchez had been at the AWPPW Hall next to the lake in Longview for a Quinceañera that was being held. He reportedly believed that Garcia and Segundo, 2 men he had never met, were smiling at his girlfriend.

After a brief argument with his girlfriend, Carrasco-Sanchez drove to Rose Valley and obtained a black pistol without a serial number. He then returned to the hall and waited outside, approaching the 2 men when they came out.

Carrasco-Sanchez attempted to fight with Garcia, but Segundo stepped between them. This led to him killing both men by shooting them in the head with the pistol. A high-speed police chase then followed before officers took Carrasco-Sanchez into custody.

The Prosecutor’s Office says that he had not been in this country legally, having previously been deported in 2004 and 2020. When he was last deported, he was prohibited from coming back to the U.S. for 20 years.

Garcia and Segundo were cousins and had been employed in Kennewick on work visas.
