A young pilot was in an extremely scary situation early yesterday afternoon when their plane went down in East Lewis County.
The Lewis County Sheriff’s Office says they were told just before 12:20 p.m. that an aircraft had crashed off Forest Road 23 into the Cispus River in Randle.
The 18-year-old pilot and their 27-year-old passenger, both Bainbridge Island residents, had reported engine issues at about 4,000 feet before the single-engine plane went down. Thankfully, neither of them was injured.
Several agencies responded to the crash. The Federal Aviation Administration is further investigating what happened.
