Longtime Longview realtor, 81-year-old Judy Flaskerud of Lacey, was injured in a multi-vehicle crash yesterday afternoon on Interstate 5 in Chehalis.
The Washington State Patrol says that around 3:15 p.m., traffic was slowing around milepost 80 on the southbound side of the freeway when 35-year-old Rechson Sachuo of Vancouver failed to stop in time, rear-ending a vehicle and causing it to also strike the vehicle in front of it.
Another vehicle slammed on its brakes to try and avoid the collision, causing a 5th vehicle to rear-end them as well. This caused that vehicle to also collide with the original crash.
All the vehicles involved came to rest, blocking the left lane.
Flaskerud was taken to Providence Centralia Hospital for her injuries. The other 12 people involved, including three young children from Toledo, were not injured. Everyone had been wearing seatbelts, and drugs or alcohol were not a factor.
Sachuo has been issued a citation.
