Crews have continued making progress on the High Lava Fire that broke out from lightning in late July.

The fire, which sits in the Gifford Pinchot National Forest between Mt. St. Helens and Rainier, is now listed at 39 percent contained and just under 2,900 acres. Fire crews say that cooler temperatures have helped slow the fire’s activity, and the hope is that the rain this week can fully bring it to a halt.
