New technology has led to a scary new kind of crime. A Skamania man was arrested last week after authorities say he was found with AI-altered images depicting minors in sexually explicit conduct.
The Skamania County Sheriff’s Office says a search warrant was executed last Wednesday, and investigators found the images on a cell phone. They say the suspect allegedly downloaded photos from public social media accounts and then used an application to alter them with AI. Nineteen victims have been identified and notified.
