Stephen Carl Klem: December 26, 1984 – September 8, 2026
ST. HELENS- Stephen Klem of St. Helens passed away on Tuesday, September 8, 2026 at the age of 41.
Stephen was one of the smartest people any of us will ever know. He started his career with the IBEW around 2008.
Over the course of his career, he worked with smart-meter infrastructure, building windmill farms, underground power, directional drilling, excavation, hydrovac operations, crane operations, overhead power construction, storm response, crew leadership, and project coordination. He had a tremendous amount of knowledge and experience in the power-line industry. Stephen started his career working for Potelco for many years withthe last few working for Black and McDonald.
He loved to fish and nothing made him happier than time spent outdoors hunting and fishing.
Above all, Stephen showed up for the people he loved. He was a devoted son, brother, uncle, grandson and friend, he had more friends than most of us could count.
He is survived by his parents, John Klem (Laurel), Cathy Hamilton (Robert); brothers, Erik (Caroline), Mike (Katie); his sister, Kelsey (Nick); his nieces, Marissa, Maddie, and Crista; his nephews, James and Wyatt; his great-niece, Donna.
The outpouring of love from his friends and family since his passing has shown just how many lives he touched. He is already so deeply missed. Even though his life was short, he lived it to the fullest.
A celebration of life will be held at the Elks Lodge in St. Helens on Saturday November 7th at 1:00pm
