A Life Flight helicopter was called in yesterday morning after an apparent workplace accident at a logging site in the Vernonia area.
The Vernonia Rural Fire Protection District says that at 8:26 a.m., first responders were dispatched after reports of a traumatic accident at the job site. It was reported that the injury occurred when logging equipment rolled down a hill with a person inside.
The incident was roughly 300 yards from where first responders’ vehicles and equipment could reach in a rural area. Because of this, rescuers had to secure the injured logger on a backboard and carry them out to an ambulance.
The logger, who had not yet been publicly identified, was taken by helicopter to the hospital. Their current condition is not known.
